Jacuzzi pool

As from the summer season 2006/7 the Greyt-on-Main guesthouse offers a jacuzzi pool in its backyard garden. Take a bottle of wine from the cabin-based "honesty fridge": be happy!

Greyton surrounds

Just a short distance from Greyton is Genadendal the first missionary station in South Africa, founded in 1737 by the Moravian Church. Walk around the church, the missionaries houses and gardens, see the water mill and a fascinating museum.
Caledon is a 20 minutes drive from Greyton. The town is famous for its natural hot springs, botanical gardens and a gambling casino. At half an hour's drive from there lies the spectacular sea side of the Walker Bay with its holiday resort of Hermanus which is renowned for being one of the best land based whale watching spots in the world (July to November).
From Hermanus it is not far to the Southernmost tip of Africa. On your way towards the Cape Agulhas you may decide to stop over in Kleinbaai, from where boat trips are undertaken to have the opportunity of closely observing the great white shark.
Visiting one and another neighbouring wine estate is worth a day's excursion. Overberg on its own is home for a great number of outstanding vinyards; Franschhoek and also Stellenbosch, the wineland's capital, are within reach.
Conquering the other attractions in the Southwestern Cape is an easy undertaking from Greyton - where to return in the evening is sheer pleasure. The Breede River Valley accommodates a further great number of vineyards. A day's trip there should stop at Swellendam, the country's third oldest city, after Cape Town and Stellenbosch. Here the Capedutch style is well represented with beautiful houses and buildings.
Last but not least: If Greyton is not far from Cape Town, it would be the same vice-versa. Discovering the Mother City and its attractive environment is more relaxing to do from Greyton, not only as you flee the capital's bustling activities, towards evening. A trip to the Cape of Good Hope is, of course, a must and should include the sight of the Penguins at Boulders near Simonstown. Driving to the Cape Peninsula from Greyton, takes you along the impressive dune coast of False Bay. After all, the Garden Route should follow your explorations of the Southwestern Cape - Knysna is at only 400 Kms from Greyton.
As Greyt-on-Main is a member of major Tourism Organisations in the area as well as in Cape Town, our travel service would be pleased to give you any advice you may require and make your ongoing reservations and bookings.
